Blue Heelers to compete at Northern NSW Championship
Twenty five of the North West’s best Junior AFL prospects will be in action next week when they compete in the Northern NSW Championship.
The Championship is being staged in Coffs Harbour from Monday to Wednesday (11 to 13 July). Despite not being able to form stand alone North West representative teams, the players have been given the chance to join other rep programs and show their wares.
The carnival features 27 teams from North Coast, Hunter Metro, Hunter Country, Central Coast, and Illawarra competing across six age groups. North West players will be in action for North Coast Under 15 and Under 17, Central Coast Under 17 and Youth Girls 17, and Illawarra Youth Girls 15.
With players from all of the Sydney Swans Academy regional zone in action, the Academy will be sending representatives to watch the games and monitor players’ progress.
This week’s wet weather on the coast has posed problems for the organisation of the carnival, but a late move to C.ex Coffs International Stadium and Leisure Park East (Bruce Barnier Fields) has all but guaranteed that the event will proceed.
Matches start each day across the three ovals at 9:00am and will run to 8:00pm on Monday, 5:00pm on Tuesday, and 1:30pm on Wednesday. To see the full program please click here.
