Ruby is the North West’s latest gem

STARTING her full-time role as an AFL NSW/ACT trainee, Ruby Spark is the newest staff member to be joining the AFL North West team.

Spark’s new role will see her working across both the Participation & Programs and Community Football work streams.

Her role is part of an expanded investment into the region by the AFL which sees the 19 year-old join the North West’s Participation Co-ordinator Lachie Bennetts-Inkster at the new dedicated AFL office located in the Tamworth Sports Dome south of Tamworth at Hillvue.

Many in the local footy community will know Spark as a player with the Tamworth Kangaroos women’s team and before that as a talented junior with the Tamworth Roosters. In 2022 the gifted athlete played a match for the Sydney Swans Academy against the GWS Giants Academy.

As part of her new job, Ruby will also be undertaking studies to complete a Certificate III in Business which is part of what has excited about becoming a member of the AFL NSW/ACT team.

“One of the things I’m excited about is promoting my passion for working with young people,” Spark said.

“I’m also excited about the traineeship itself and getting a business qualification with it.”
