Roadshow to support volunteers for season ahead

Are you taking on a committee, coaching, or Auskick related role within your footy club in 2023? AFL NSW/ACT wants to support you and is running the annual Education Roadshow to make sure you have all the info you need to perform your role well.

The Education Roadshow is being held at Wests Tamworth on Sunday 26 March (10:30am to 3:00pm) and will have separate dedicated programs for club administrators, coaches, and Auskick Co-ordinators.

The session for administrators will be led by a member of the newly formed Club Development team and will focus on volunteer recruitment and the role of Volunteer Co-ordinator, as well as a discussion on the recently launched club development grants.

Coaches will work with AFL NSW/ACT Coaching and Education Lead Ryan O’Keefe, covering key areas such as philosophy, environment, and coaching female players. Ryan will also lead a discussion about ongoing professional development for regional coaches.

The group of Auskick Co-ordinators will have both a session on planning, available resources, and delivery, followed by a practical session to pull this all together. Local staff from the Game Development team will lead these workshops.

Paul Taylor, Community Football Manager, said that the Roadshow is one of the key events on the annual calendar.

“Our volunteer administrators, coaches, and Auskick Co-ordinators do an incredible job, not just in season, but also before and after with all the planning that goes into these roles. We absolutely value everything they do to ensure local footy goes ahead, and the Roadshow is one of our key initiatives to ensure that volunteers are well supported and provided with the resources and information they need,” Taylor said.

RSVPs for the Education Roadshow close on Friday 10 March and are through local clubs. Anyone wanting to participate in this valuable training should let their club know so they can be included in the club’s response.
