Josh Bruce

A key defender who has also played forward, Bruce arrived at the Saints on the last day of the 2013 exchange period after nominating the club as his preferred destination. He was one of the first players signed by the Giants after a promising junior rowing career, and played three matches as a forward in his debut season.

In 2013 Bruce found a niche in defence and demonstrated excellent composure in the back half. Given the swell of injuries to key defenders last year, St Kilda’s recruiting staff identified Bruce and Luke Delaney as key targets ahead of the 2014 campaign and successfully added them both to what shapes as a far more balanced back six.
