Northern NSW AFLW watch – Round 7 Recap

The Sydney Swans suffered a 13-point loss to Hawthorn at Henson Park on Saturday afternoon, unable to withstand a late surge from the Hawks in hot conditions.

The Swans (3-4) started brightly but were unable to find their third goal until the dying stages of the game as the Hawks gradually wore them down.

Alice Mitchell (Gunnedah Bulldogs) performed well throughout the game with a career high 11 disposals (8 handballs and 3 kicks), 3 marks and 3 tackles, allowing her to gather 50 AFL Fantasy points.

Following the brilliant game, Alice polled a vote in the AFL Coaches Assoc AFLW Champion Player of the Year award.

After round 7, Alice has 174 AFLW fantasy points.

 

St Kilda recorded their fourth straight win with an emphatic 13-point victory over the GIANTS at RSEA Park.

The Saints stifled the GIANTS’ run and piled on the pressure across all four quarters to come away with a 7.6 (48) to 5.5 (35) victory at Moorabbin.

The drizzle fell at Moorabbin in classic Melbourne style, making for a scrappy game early with both teams struggling to retain possession.

Cambridge McCormick (Port Macquarie Magpies) played mainly in the ruck, Cambridge racked up a season high 14 hit outs, 5 tackles, and 6 handballs, and 47 AFL Fantasy points.

After round 7, Cambridge has 125 AFLW fantasy points.

 

A gallant Western Bulldogs side has fallen 42 points short against Adelaide at Norwood Oval on Friday night.

Despite losing three players before half time, the red, white and blue gave all effort against one of the strongest outfits in the AFLW, eventually falling 9.5 (59) to 2.5 (17).

Brianna McFarlane (Lower Clarence Eagles) booted her sixth goal of the season to maintain her 100% goal accuracy this season. Bri has been a consistent performer for the doggies collecting 39 AFLW fantasy points in round 7.

After round 7, Bri has 252 AFLW fantasy points.
