IT’S now or never for the teams competing in Saturday’s Preliminary Finals.

For the victor it’s onward and upward to the Grand Final while it’s a case of curtains for the vanquished.

Inverell will enjoy the luxury of home ground advantage in both matches being played at Varley Oval on Saturday.

The day starts with the women’s match where the Saints will be facing the Tamworth Swans on a day where the weather forecast suggests wet weather footy will be to the fore.

Inverell and the Swans met in slippery conditions in the opening round of the season and on that occasion the Saints were forced to come from 14 points down at three-quarter time to secure a nail biting 5 point win.

The pair have met on two occasions since with Inverell being the victor on both occasions by an average margin of 26 points.

Seeing as it’s going to be wet, perhaps it will be the conditions that are made for Swans.

The men’s match will see the Saints take on the neighbouring New England Nomads.

Inverell hosted the Nomads just two weeks ago and won comfortably by 41 points.

The New England team though showed it’s capable of playing some marvellous football when it kicked nine goals to three during the second half of last week’s 1st Semi Final against the Tamworth Kangaroos.

Inverell will be hard to beat at home and the Nomads will have to produce somewhere close to that form if they’re to continue on to the Grand Final at Tamworth No.1 Oval on September 10.
