Hall wins his second Tony Gillies Medal

TAMWORTH Kangaroos utility Matthew Hall has joined AFL North West royalty after winning his second Tony Gillies Medal.
The 26 year-old won the Medal for the first time in 2023 and tonight won the copunt by just one vote from last year’s winner Nick Fisher from the Tamworth Swans.
Hall’s win means he now joins Adam White (Muswellbrook Cats), Andrew George (Gunnedah), Damien Wendt, Lachlan Rowling and Edward George from the Tamworth Swans and fellow Tamworth Kangaroo Matthew Hodge as a two-time winner of the prestigious prize.
The win has capped off a big year for Hall who was also the captain of the North West Blue Heelers representative team and named as that team’s best player when it played in Gunnedah at the end of June.
With three rounds of the season remaining, Fisher led Hall by one vote in the count but the Kangaroo polled two votes in the match at Varley Oval to retake the lead he held earlier after a hot start to the season.
Other award winners on the night were Lachlan Bennetts-Inkster from the Tamworth Swans who won the Gerry Griffiths Medal for the second consecutive year as the League’s leading goalkicker, fellow Swan Lachlan Hunt who won the Rising Star Award while Aidan Barry from the New England Nomads was announced as the Coaches Award winer for 2025.
