Gala Day a roaring success

THE wide smiles on the faces of the participants at Sunday’s first junior Gala Day was all the evidence that was needed to rate the day as a major success.

Tamworth’s Riverside No.5 ground needed to have three junior ovals marked out as more than sixty Under 10 and Under 12 players from around the region converged to create a buzz of excitement.

Players came from Glen Innes, Armidale, Narrabri, Gunnedah and Tamworth and looked fantastic as they played in their club jumpers.

Add to that number the Auskick kids that enjoyed a session as well as the Under 14 players who played in the first match of the junior season, about 100 juniors enjoyed a great day of AFL.

Development Coordinator for NSW North West Khobi Devine said it was great see the players and parents enjoying themselves.

“All of the feedback we’ve received has been overwhelmingly positive. Club volunteers and parents have been telling us that their kids had a ball and can’t wait for the next chance to do it all again,” Devine said.

A special thank you must go to the volunteers at the Tamworth Roosters who did so much work prior to the event to make the day a success.

The Gala Days will continue throughout the year.

The next Gala Day is being held in Armidale on May 21.

Further Gala Days are being held in:

  • Inverell (June 4)
  • Gunnedah (June 18)
  • Narrabri (July 2)
  • Glen Innes (July 23)

Players and their families are encouraged to travel and participate in as many of them as they can.
