Mixed results for Roosters on the road at Inverell

The Roosters were on the road again on the weekend – this time heading to Inverell.
The cars may have been surrounded by fog on the trip up but the day turned into a beautiful, sunny one for the Kevin Pay memorial round.
It was a mixed result for the Roosters with the under 14s getting their first win while the under 17s went down in a fast-paced game to the home side; who should be congratulated on their win.

The under 14 Roosters started well with Ned Hagon being unpassable on the half back line
“Ned repelled the footy all day with some solid marking and tackling,” said coach Greg Vallender.
“He had his best game to date for the Roosters whilst at the other end, Tom Aitken set up many score assists for his teammates whilst booting 10 goals of his own.”
The teamwork was exemplified by Anna George’s performance which paid dividends when she chipped in with a couple of goals of her own.
Harry Hagon, continued his great form from last week, winning possessions at will. Liam Bramley was solid in defence and creative with short spells on the ball, whilst Josh Vallender’s hard work around the stoppages was instrumental in the win.
The under 17s welcomed Latrell Allan and Will Aitken back into the side, with both players having an immediate impact on the game. Josh Vallender and Liam Bramley backed up their strong under 14s game in the 17s clash.
It was a high-paced game with great passages of team footy but with a couple of injuries, they were unable to rotate and it took its toll in the second half.
“We were a bit undermanned,” said Roosters ruckman Jack Dadd.
“But I was really proud of the boys, they kept going to the end. We were really determined and Josh and Liam really helped out with great contributions from everybody”
The Roosters will now work toward this weekend’s special match where they remember and honour Jacob Vallender.
