Kevin Pay Memorial Round

Competition points won’t be the only award on offer when the Inverell Saints take on the Tamworth Saints this Saturday.

The two sides will play off for the Kevin Pay memorial shield, which pays tribute to the Inverell Saints’ life member who passed away June last year.

Inverell Saints won the shield in the inaugural match up last year, and will be motivated by Kevin’s legacy to retain it.

The senior men are one a piece in their previous match-ups, with the Saints coming from 4 goals down at ¾ time to run over the Tamworth Swans by 8 points in their last round 10 match up.

The Senior women’s have also been equally matched in their last two games, with the Saints being victorious in both. A highlight of the day will be having Kevin Pay’s granddaughter Jaimie Pay take the field in the women’s game.

Wet weather in Inverell has moved the matches to Bellevue Oval in Armidale, after the field became available due to a forfeit from the NEMS to the Nomads.

Seniors women will kick off a 12pm and mens at 2pm.

The winner of the shield will be the club that wins the most games, or had the highest aggregate winning scores on Saturday.
