Rekunow first Poochette to win big prize
GUNNEDAH captain Katrina Rekunow is the first Poochettes player to win the AFL North West’s Women’s Best & Fairest award.
After finishing seventh in the Best & Fairest count in 2022 and fifth last year, Rekunow took her game to another level in 2024 and led from the front to win the coveted prize.
To cap off a brilliant season, the 28 year-old also won the Coaches Award.
Inverell’s Gabby Mooney continued her remarkable run in League Best & Fairest counts.
Having won the award in 2019 and 2021, Mooney produced another fine season to finish runner-up for a third straight season.
Saints teammate Katrina Doak won the Leading Goalkicker prize while Sophie Weeks from the Tamworth Swans earned the Rising Star award.
