Round 5: Jacob Vallender Heart Foundation Memorial
Number 1 oval at Tamworth this weekend will host the Jacob Vallender Heart Foundation Memorial round.
Jacob Vallender was suddenly and unexpectedly lost in late 2019 to a heart attack.
Together, the Tamworth Roosters and Tamworth Kangaroos are celebrating Jacob’s life, with 4 cracking games of footy kicking off at 9:30am this Saturday the 15th of May.
The memorial day will remember Jacob’s kind nature and willingness to help others.
Jacob was a valued member of both footy clubs, where playing the game was just the start of his involvement. Jacob would be there to help set up the ground and then pack up as well. When we wasn’t running water for the senior teams, he’d be running the boundary line instead.

The weekend will also focus on awareness to the Heart Foundation is Jacob’s memory. Jacob’s shock heart attack revealed an undiagnosed congenital heart defect. Heart disease remains Australia’s biggest killer, claiming 48 lives every day.
A variety of fundraisers are being run in conjunction with the memorial round, with all money raised going to the Heart Foundation. The include:
- Sausage sizzle
- Raffle
- Donation of a portion of canteen sales
- Donation tin
The Kangaroos will wear Roosters socks for the Round in memory of Jacob. These socks will be available for purchase on the day for $10 a pair with the profits donated to the Heart Foundation. Priority will be given to players but there will be spare socks available for volunteers, family & friends who may wish to purchase a pair.
