New Interchange Agreement with AFL Hunter Central Coast

PLAYERS from the AFL North West can now be granted permits to play with AFL Hunter Central Coast clubs.
The League has entered into an Interchange Agreement with its southern neighbour to allow greater flexibility and ease of player movement.
This is the second Interchange Agreement that the AFL North West has entered into following on from the agreement enacted in 2022 with the AFL North Coast.
Brad Greenshields, Community Football and Competition Manager for AFL Northern NSW, said entering into the agreement would make player movement between the two leagues easier for AFL North West clubs to manage.
“In the past if a North West player was to play for a short period of time for a club in the Hunter, say at the start of the season where our southern neighbours usually start their season earlier, a local player would have to get a transfer to a AFL Hunter Central Coast club and then when it was time to return to playing at home, a return transfer would be needed,” Greenshields explained.
“Now a player can get a permit to play with a club down south and still be a registered player with their home club. It (the agreement) provides a much simpler way to administer any player movement between the two leagues.”
